gerbo, did you know that Australian politicians of all parties regard the position of head of “aboriginal affairs” as “the poisoned chalice”? Face facts. Most of the aboriginal population are getting on OK, there are just a few thousand in certain areas particularly in the NT which are no better than hell-holes. There are no resources therefore there is no employment. Therefore there is nothing to do. The fact that the devil finds work for idle hands applies equally to aboriginals and Europeans.

The fact that these hell-holes exist has been an open secret in this country for years. Borroloola is one place and it is possibly not the worst. No sensible person stays any time in Wilcannia or Burketown either. This does not appear in the media because the media is sh#t-scared of being called “racist”. In reality there are “white” areas of Sydney which are about as bad.

In both sorts of places you have two-three generations of people who have never or rarely held a job and have been living on one form or another of welfare for decades. The kids get no decent form of education because their parents are too stupid/lazy/drunk/drugged whatever to send them to school or to do much of a job of bringing them up. So you end up with another generation of illiterates who can’t get or hold a job, get pregnant at 16, go on the dole, marijuana and booze.

There has been a lot of useless hand wringing over these issues since at least the 1970s and the situation never changes. And it will not until the people in these places, white and black are required to get an education and get a job.

Are you crazy? How did you get this stupid idea from?
Aborigines used to live in Australia for over 40,000 years and lived a rather good life there until the white men came and brought them diseases and alcohol and other bad things. Now they are in a big mess with that.
It’s true that there are places where Aborigines live. And these are all around the country. If you want to get there you need a permit.
Aborigines are nomads and will always be nomads. They live where there is food and leave in time to find new areas for hunting when necessary so the area can recover. You can learn how “to stay alive” in the bush if you let them teach you.
So forget about what you asked and get informed how Aborigines live with and from the country.
