By the way, it was absolutely delicious! I made strawberry syrup (cut fresh strawberries in half, added lemon juice sugar and the smallest amount of sugar and boiled it until the strawberries started collapsing slightly). I also bought some icecream so we had maple and icecream and strawberries and icecream on our crepes. It was so delicious.

And, that’s about all there is to that. You tap into the trunk of the tree and it will release the maple, that can be made into candy, syrup, or used for baking.
Genuine maple syrup is gotten from genuine maple trees.
It is quite literally tree sap from maple trees. Poke holes in the trees and everything. There’s a lot of imitation stuff out there, but the real deal is just delicious, isn’t it?!

Real Maple syrup is extracted from Sugar Maple trees. They are “tapped” like you would a keg and the Sap flow in maple trees will not occur every day throughout the tapping season. It occurs when a rapid warming trend in early to midmorning follows a cool (below freezing) night. Thus, the amount of sap produced varies from day to day. Normally, a single tap-hole produces from a quart to a gallon of sap per flow period (from a few hours to a day or more), with a seasonal accumulation of 10 to 12 gallons per tap-hole likely
Pure maple syrup is the boiled sap of the maple tree. The tree is tapped by hammering a metal spigot into the tree. When the sap run it flows out the spigot and into a collection vehicle. Straight out of the tree the sap is like water but slightly sweet. From the tree, the sap is take to a boiler where it is boiled and condensed – the water evaporates and the sugars concentrate and caramelize (hence the brown color). The darker the syrup, the stronger the flavor.
it’s made from tree sap from a maple tree. they boil it so it gets sweet and thick and you get genuine maple syrup. they can add other things to make other products. genuine maple syrup is way better than that fake suger stuff. I’m Canadian.
There is more to it than just tapping a tree, although this is how it begins. It then must be boiled down. It takes about 40 gallons of maple tree sap to make one gallon of maple syrup. Check out this site for the full process.
Genuine maple syrup is maple sap. If it was genuine, it shouldn’t have any other ingredients in it. WOOHOO CANADIANS!
Maple syrup comes from the sap of the maple tree. The maple trees are usually found in Ontario and Quebec and this is where most of the Canadian Maple Syrup comes from. They place a tap into the bark of the tree and have a small pail hung on the tap to collect the sap. This is done in the late fall early winter, once the sap is collected it is boiled down and thus forming a thicker syrup. Glad to hear you enjoyed it, yes it is expensive but good!!
Pure maple syrup isn’t really made from anything in the way you’re thinking….
It’s the naturally sweet sap from the maple tree which is collected and boiled down until it reaches a syrup consistency. THat’s all there is to it.
The reason it’s so expensive is cause it takes something like 10 litres of sap to boil down to make 1 litre of syrup.

It comes from the sap of a maple tree. The tree is “tapped” in the spring time when the sugar is running and is collected in buckets. It is then cooked down to a sweet sticky goodness.
If the label on your syrup has an ingredient list and anything other that maple syrup is on the list, then it is not pure, genuine maple syrup.
