I'm dreaming about a nice location, next to a beach where my 6month pregnant wife and the 1 year old baby can rest and relax.

your wife shouldn’t fly too far in her condition,some airlines wont even let her board
id stick closer to home just in case of complications
if you decide to go it will be mid winter so look at queensland where it wont be cold
I advise you to stay at home for some months.Wait for the baby to be born and start your vacation when he/she is a little bigger.Your wife will need some quietness as well!
There are plenty of places in Australia for you to visit in a bungalow style cottage, apartments, beach house, caravan parks etc. August is the end of winter for us so you wouldn’t want to go to the southern states unless you want to freeze on the beach. Go into central or north Queensland to escape the chill. You would be advised to book in fairly early as many travellers from the southern states come to Queensland to escape the cold weather and many places get booked out qwickly. But consider that your child would get bored just driving around and would need somewhere to play safely. Watch him carefully on the beach!
In August, you should definitely head for central to north Queensland, as anywhere further south will not really have lazing on the beach weather. There are dozens of places like the one you describe all along the coast. Mission Beach which is a couple of hours by road from Cairns is exactly the type of place you’re looking for and has bungalow type accomodation right on the beach -
Or around the Whitsunday Islands would be ideal.
At 6 months, your wife should be able to fly without problems if she takes care, but you should be very careful about taking out good travel insurance that will cover your pregnant wife (as well as you and your baby of course). Medical treatment in Australia can be very expensive although visitors from countries with reciprocal arrangements can be covered by our Medicare system. In any case, if any of you need private treatment, good travel insurance is the only way to go.
